This conference has been a great success, from trending on social media, the involvement of and focus on youth, the number of speakers and audience from the Pacific, and the buzz of discussion amongst delegates. The voices of senior and youth leaders from the Pacific were strong and clear about what their needs and aspirations are. The topics were highly relevant from politics, to climate change and security in all its forms. The Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa Hon Afioga Fiame Mata’afa spoke eloquently and personally about what she saw as the key issues for the region and Hon Ralph Regenvanu exhorted New Zealand to ensure views of the Pacific included Melanesia.
